Education Program Assistant
Dates: May 28-June 29, 2012
Hours: 30 hours per week
Duties: Historical interpretation, preparing and leading student activities under the direction of the Education Coordinator.
An interest in history, crafts and cooking as well as experience working with children would be an asset
Tourism information/Front desk – This position is responsible for gathering and distributing information, and for all operations of the front desk. This includes first impressions, tourism information, gift shop sales, money management, phone management, opening and closing of the front building, record keeping, promotions, events, and other duties as required.
Applicants must be friendly, punctual, dedicated, responsible and neat in appearance.
Excellent communication skills-both verbal and written
Working understanding of local area and events
Good organizational and recordkeeping skills
Help with event planning and implementation
Computer skills are a must
Website maintenance and updating
Duties as required by supervisor
Class 5 Driver license or better is preferred
Will be cross trained in other duties
Collection Manager’s Assistant
Artifact care, display setup, computer input, and inventory are high priorities for this position. Historic cabin enhancement. Attention to detail and self-motivation is a requirement.
Applicants must be organized, motivated, independent, flexible, able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs, and be willing to work in co-operation with other positions within the organization.
Assisting head gardener with all groundskeeping duties including planning and maintenance of all flower beds, tree nursery and community gardens. Position also includes farm animal care. Some mowing and pruning.
Successful applicants will be cross-trained for all positions offered.
Agricultural experience an asset. Love for animals and the outdoors essential. Flexiblity with hours. Driver's license required. Some heavy lifting required.
